The crayfish seasons
"Although available all year around the official crayfish season begins in August and is marked by parties that are a bizarre sight for foreigners. Upstanding members of society put on funny hats and bibs, use their fingers to dive into plates of crayfish cooked in dill before slurping and sucking their way through the feast. All this is accompanied by loud singing of schnapps songs. These shocking manners resemble those of the aristocracy back in the 16th century when the tradition of crayfish began."
